The visitation programs carry out the Parish Mission Statement among our senior  adults in the following ways:

Community- Daytime adults nourish the gifts and talents of one another in collaboration with existing parish ministries.

Enrichment- Providing spiritual and cultural programs for enjoyment.

WHAT IS PASTORAL CARE?

We visit the following facilities:

HOSPITALS

NURSING HOME AND CARE FACILITIES

BIRTHDAY CARD MINISTRY

Be a part of sending cards to the elderly in our parish.  The commitment is one month per year.

CARE MINISTRY

Care ministry is serving God by being prayerfully present to others who are hurting.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

The prayer shawl ministry is a relatively new ministry that has blossomed within the past couple of years.  A major factor is due in part to our volunteers who participate in creating shawls representing comfort, solace and God wrapped around them.

Prayer Shawl packers are available in the parish office.  Included in this packet are suggested patterns for knitting or crocheting, guidelines, prayers to get you started, and other helpful tips.  Once you have completed a prayer shawl, please return it to the parish office and from there it will be delivered to grateful recipients.

If you are interested in making shawls with a gathered group, please join us on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays in the Janssen Center Gathering Room at 1:00 pm.  There is also a gathering on the 1st Wednesday of the month in the evening at 6:30 pm.  Note: we will not meet during the summer, June - August.  We will share patterns, pray together, bless the shawls, share our stories and help others learn or re-learn to knit or crochet.  For more information, please contact Judi at 729-0567.

MEMORIAL MASS AND GATHERING:  NOVEMBER 7, 2009

Each year, in honor of All Souls Day, we remember our parishioners who have died in the previous year.  Family members will receive a candle to take into Mass and take home afterward as a memorial.  If you have a loved one who died elsewhere, you are also invited to participate.

ANNOINTING OF THE SICK

This sacrament will next be offered corporately on October 24-25, 2009 and February 27-28, 2010.  If you are struggling with health issues, emotional issues, or even faith issues, this beautiful sacrament offers healing and grace, and brings comfort, strength, and peace to one's mind, body, and spirit.  All are invited.

WHEN TO CONTACT A CHAPLAIN
